PAKISTAN: WAR condemns the kidnapping, rape and burning a minor to death

War Against Rape (WAR), Karachi, expresses its profound sorrow and grief over the alleged abduction, rape and burning of a five-year old girl to death in Bheempura, and similarly 22 year old trainee nurse in Surjani Town, Karachi.

WAR also appreciates the prompt notice taken by Mr. Ishrat Ul Ibad, Governor Sindh in the case of minor survivor but it strongly urges the authorities for an immediate and fast-moving trial to ensure justice to both the survivors. Moreover; the appropriate and comprehensive measures should be taken to protect the families of both the survivors and witnesses must be provided justice delayed will again not only politicize the whole case, but will give time to the criminals to destroy all evidence and silence all witnesses,  as happens in most cases.

WAR expresses its deep concern about the alarming rise in cases of kidnapping, sexual violence and killings of minor and adult girls all over the country. State services continue to remain woefully inadequate, inefficient and insensitive towards this issue. Laws may have been changed to provide relief to the woeful but as long as there is corruption, a lack of accountability and vested interests of the powerful at stake, cases like these will continue to taint newspapers every day and eventually fade into oblivion without any justice.

WAR strongly demands the arrests of the responsible persons behind. WAR also urges that such cases where the survivors are brutally murdered after the sexual assault and kidnapping be dealt with swiftly and with severity, with the Courts sparing no efforts in ensuring that rule of law is upheld and would-be offenders fear consequences of their actions.
