ASIA: Weekly Roundup, Episode 46

In this week’s episode of the Weekly Roundup, AHRC TV is pleased to announce that Basil Fernando, the Asian Human Rights Commission’s Director for Policy and Programme Development, will be awarded the Right Livelihood Award, which is also known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize”, “for his outstanding work to support and document the implementation of human rights in Asia”.

To reflect on the work of Mr. Fernando and the significance of this award, AHRC TV speaks with John Joseph Clancey and Bijo Francis, Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Executive Director at Asian Human Rights Commission, respectively, as well as to the recipient himself.

We welcome both human rights feeds to be considered for weekly news bulletin and your suggestions to improve our news channel. Please write to news@ahrc.asia. You can also watch our Weekly Roundup on Facebook.
