ASIA: Weekly Roundup, Episode 59

In the wake of last week’s terrorist attack in Paris, this episode of Weekly Roundup will cover the freedoms of speech and the press in certain Asian countries. The episode begins with an overview.

AHRC TV then turns to Pakistan, for a look at how satire is treated and how it is limited. Pakistani Lawyer Javeria Younes describes Pakistani reactions to the attack on Charlie Hebdo.

Next, Pawinee Chumsri of Thai Lawyers for Human Rights provides details on Lese Majeste laws and how they are used to suppress speech in her home country.
