THAILAND: WGJP call for seminar “Thai society and the Right to Know the Truth about Forced Disappearances”

The Justice and Peace Foundation (WGJP) would like to invite you to a seminar in conjunction with the International Day of the Disappearance on “Thai Society and the Right to Know the Truth on forced Disappearances. Discussion on Right to Know the Truth under The International Convention on the Protection of All Persons from Forced Disappearance”

The seminar is sponsored by The Justice and Peace Foundation (WGJP), the Right and Liberties Protection Department, the Rotary Peace Centre at Chulalongkorn University and the Asian Federation Against Disappearances.

At: Jamjuree Room 2, Pathumwan Princess Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand

This seminar aims to:

(i) Create understanding and raise awareness of the General Comment on the right to the truth in relation to forced disappearance;
(ii) Share thoughts on how to implement this General Comment into Thai society;
(iii) Campaign for the Thai government to urgently ratify the International Convention and mark the day to commemorate victims and the struggle of victims families around the world;
(iv) Discuss legal aspects regarding the ratification of the convention. The seminar brings together representatives from various government departments, academics, members of civil society and victims of disappearances.
