AHRC: Clarification on Email Hoax 

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has been made aware of an email hoax that has been circulating in the recent weeks. The scam email alleges that the AHRC would assist persons to claim a lottery prize through communications with the Chinese authorities. This circulating letter is false.

  • Please do not respond to the email request with your personal information.
  • Ignore any such email should you have received it. The false email that circulated is signed by a Mr. Wang Chao.
  • No such person is or has been affiliated with the AHRC.

The AHRC does not entertain any activities related to lotteries or to support individuals’ cash claims there from. The AHRC’s work is strictly limited to the promotion and protection of human rights, in particular through documentation of violations, advocacy and by promoting institutional reforms.
