ISSUES: Judicial system,

The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has been informed by MINBYUN (Lawyers for Democratic Society) in South Korea that the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (ROK) has today ratified the Rome Statutes of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

AHRC welcomes this significant step by the government of Republic of Korea to show its commitment to international justice as well as its commitment to participate in the matters relating to ICC more actively as a state party to the Statutes.

AHRC would like to thank all the persons and organizations who have signed the on-line petition within last few days, to urge the ROK government to ratify the ICC statutes. AHRC will be closing this on-line petition for signatures today.

Thank you for your support and we believe your support has somehow made a difference.

Thank you again for your action.
